Goodbye old friend...Hello new friend!

Well, I said goodbye to a dear old friend...my 1994 K5 Blazer. It was just too gas hungry in these high priced times. I have to say, that old horse never let me down.

I was bummed out the day I sold it...but the next day, my wife tells me "Go look for a small truck". So I set out on the truck buying adventure with a lightened soul.

I wasn't looking for something "new" as I didn't want a car payment. It made little sense to me to get a car payment to save on gas. I would have been just changing the hand in which I was forking out the money.

I looked but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I started out looking for an S-10 extended cab V6 automatic. It seems that most of the ones for sale are 4 cylinder manual transmission. Nope. That won't do. So I find one that is V6 automatic but regular cab. However, it was a long bed.

Hmmm....I was thinking....This might work! But I kept on looking and told they guy, "this will be my fall back truck" and kept on searching. The whole time that little truck was stuck in the back of my head. So after looking at some real "beaters" I headed back to that lot.

He had the truck listed at $2999 "Special". I'm thinking $2999 plus tax, tag, prep etc. I'm looking at it and we were just talking in general when I made my offer. "$2500 OUT THE DOOR!" I said. He winced and thought about it for a minute or two. He said I can't do that but I'll let you have it for $2710.00 out the door. I said "No, but you can meet me in the middle at $2600.00 out the door". He smiled and said "Technically, it would be $2605.00". "True" I said, " But 2600.00 is as far as I'm going". He agreed to the terms and that was that. I'm the proud owner of a 1994 S-10 pickup with no payments! Happy days are here again! =-)
